Guiding, climbing, flying, friends, blockchain, party and the world of flow…
Somewhere in between different airports, cars and random places, I am living the life of adventure and curiosity in how to make it better for others. It is now close to a year since my last post. I did write 2 or 3 since, but never felt like publishing…
2017 was a year of deepening connections with like-minded people and sharing some epic moments with them. I am now certain that I am not into travelling, mountains and related activities for its own sake. I like all of those because I can share them with people I love. Friends that realize accutely that we only have this one life and we will all be better off if we do not waste a single moment.
My schedule might seem hectic – 2017 took me from summer alpine guiding with Adventure Consultants in New Zealand to ice climbing in Cogne Italy with Paul, skiing with friends guides Jeff and Steve Banks in Crested Butte, Colorado, followed by one month of heli-ski guiding in India. Back to US/California, climbing in Joshua Tree with Jarad and Justin, guys that made my life better, heading to Austria/Switzerland for ski mountaineering trips with team Thailand and team Extreme from Norway, then back to US again. Skydiving between Lodi, Skydance Davis, Yosemite climbing, road trip with Guayaki team to Lightning in the Bottle festival, to one month in Aspen, Colorado learning to paraglide with Katelyn and climbing. Back to summer season in Chamonix until September followed by “THE” road trip from US East coast to West coast with Robo. Back to Yosemite again with Reuben, Ed and Jonesy, randomly meeting Thomas and Constanza before high altitude Adventure Consultants trip in Nepal. Visiting some friends and paragliding in Australia brought me back to another summer alpine season of New Zealand. In 2018 I so far went from NZ to deep powder of Hokkaido Japan with Reuben, Alex and Michael, then to Costa Rica to Envision festival and time with Joey, Reuben, Carl and new friends that made me feel like part of the family. With Carl, his brother Paul, Reuben and Joey we are all flying to Chamonix in couple of days to speed fly and save the world. Hectic in appearance, yet all those travels are linked by people I like to spend time with in environments that make me buzz. It all feels very natural.
I gave myself time and effort to learn some new things in 2017. Paragliding, Wim Hof method and blockchain were the main ones thanks to Joey and Reuben, my best new male friends in my life. Making my life richer increasing my field of knowledge and activities I can share with others.
My daily life consists of serious activities in the alpine environment and I feel very privileged that I am able to do those with very competent people, be it my friends or clients. I am impressed how seriously my friends and clients prepare for our time in the mountains which allows us to have so much more fun and take it that one step further. It feels good to be out there with real partners rather than just dragging somebody up some peak.
What does make an adventure an « amazing adventure »? The story. To be honest, I barely remember how things really happened in the past. I refer to my past according to the story I tell myself.
What were the highlights since my last post? Another NIAD with Reuben. Hike & Fly Grand Paradiso with Alex and Ian. Spaghetti Tour with Hannah. Flying off Kleine Matterhorn solo. Speed flying fun with Carl in Santa Cruz. Making the summit of Island Peak seeing an amazing effort by Michelle. Climb Righteous, my hardest grade at Al Cap, New Zealand. Skydive in Moab. Lighting in the Bottle festival in California. And many hugs with gorgeous people.
Each few days gave me new story, then came the new one and so the first one drifted into past. It all merged in some kind of memory mess and I can remember only some random snippets.
Fortunately, iPhone provides photos with dates so here are some pics from the past year.
In between those trips, my sister gave birth to beautiful lady girl, I fell in love and experienced heart break, fell in love again, created and nourished plenty of connections, felt alert in the mountains and in the air. I am stealing this from Emily, beautiful and fascinating human I met at LIB festival –
This is how I want to develop.
